The first fireworks of 2014 we watched from the 18th floor window in our hotel room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After a hectic 2013 me and my family hopped on the plane on new years morning for a 3 week vacation in the sun. Thinking now that it’s nearly a year ago feels crazy. 2014 went by SO fast, like I mean, in a flash. I didn’t do a blogpost like this in the end of 2013, didn’t have the energy. Well, this year I do.
2014 have been an interesting year in so many aspects. I have had the pleasure to travel a lot, shooting the most lovely weddings, elopements and honeymoon session around Europe and of course, in Sweden. Many of them together with my co-shooter and 2 Brides Photography partner Sabina, but also on my own or with my husband as an assistant and film loader. I’m fortunate to have them in my life. I love them both dearly and couldn’t do it without them. And as one of our lovely couples for this year had on a sign, I love you more than bacon. Well, in my case I’d say; I love you more than a sunny beach and a Strawberry Daiquiri.
This year has also been a year of new experiences, overcoming difficulties, trying to step out of my comfort zone. The one thing that come to mind was shooting a new cook book in a totally different style than I usually work in. That both strengthened me and was scary at the same time. More about that to come in 2015.
Other experiences from this year that stands out are the interesting people I got to meet, have great discussions with and photograph. They are from all walks of life and I learned so much from them. I feel they have enriched my life in so many different ways and for that I’m very thankful. So, for me this is not a “best of ” blog post or “here are the weddings I shot”, this is a celebration to the people I worked with and who trusted me in photographing them at gorgeous locations both near and far. It’s a celebration to life, love and laughter, and a deep feeling of gratitude.
I can’t wait to see what 2015 holds in store for me, my family and for 2 Brides Photography but I’m game, always up for an adventure and definitely for a sunny beach and a strawberry daiquiri.
xx Isabelle
Little did I know what would come in the year 2014 when I ate the last scallop on new years eve. It had been a crazy year with a lot of work and a heck load of travelling and I was tired.
When I look back on this year it most defenitley was a year of change in many ways, not only photograpy-speaking but a change in perspective and personal growth. A big leap forward, or backwards depending on how you see things. All that happend has built my selfconfidence to the point that I almost enjoy standing in front of strangers and talk about my photography…well…almost. And so much more.
Because it’s the people it’s all about, experiences and connections, we learn from each other and move forward. I’m so fortunate to have worked with so many talented people. Many that touched my heart. Also the travelling, with my business partner Isabelle has given me perspective on how I work and what I need to change and do differently.
My ongoing personal project involves people close to me, sorrow, happiness, laughter, frustration and an endless love for life. That project is shot entirely on black and white film and it’s kind of going back to my roots, documentary photography. I’m exited to see what this year has got for us all, I’m positive sure it will rock! Until then hugs and take care.
So happy to have meet you girls this year.. Happy we made it into your year look back.. Hope to see you girls again soon! <3
Thank you Sandra <3
