Melis and Marcus’s destination wedding in Stockholm is one for the books! A mix of cultural traditions, a lavish party, and loads of emotion. Not to mention a gorgeous bride and a very dapper groom.
A Beautiful City
They picked Stockholm as their destination for a few different reasons. Mainly because the bride is half Swedish but also because Stockholm is such a beautiful city. They felt positive that guests coming in from all corners of the world would love it as much as they do. Our bride and groom live in England traveled over to Stockholm several times. Planning their wedding was easy for them. Since Stockholm is a rather small city.
Mix Of Cultures
I am beyond thankful we got to witness and photograph their union. They made sure to embrace their four different cultures. Swedish, Turkish, Indian, and English. Thank you, Melis & Marcus, for the trust and tremendous honor in having me document your day. I felt blessed to have been your wedding photographer!
From the bride
We began our wedding festivities with an Indian themed welcome party. Incorporated English wedding traditions and music to the ceremony. Turkish poetry readings and favors bought from the bazaar in Istanbul. The beautiful city of Stockholm was the perfect backdrop for our special day. With guests from over 26 countries, we wanted our wedding to be a celebration of cultures. To remind us all that we overcome these differences for two things: friendship and love.
Stockholm
Stockholm wasn’t a hard decision. Being half Swedish, it’s a second home for me (the bride). But what was so incredible is how fast Marcus fell in love with it and became his second home too. So we loved the idea of our friends falling in love with it also. Guests had plenty of time over the weekend to explore Stockholm. We were delighted to hear that everyone was as enchanted by this cool and beautiful city as we are! Thankfully it is easy and convenient for many of our friends to travel to as well! We are fortunate that our gorgeous venue, Grand Hotel, needs no introduction. The two rooms, Vapensalen and Spegelsalen, are stunning. Everything that we added was to compliment the beauty of the spaces. We kept it simple – gold lettering on the Order of Service and white flowers, for example.
Favorite moment of the day?
Every detail and every moment was a favorite! The excitement of getting ready. Imagining what each other’s vows will be. The intimate and quiet moment we shared while doing our portrait session. Hearing the beautiful words spoken by our friend during the ceremony, making us both laugh and cry. Declaring our vows and all while being surrounded by our loved ones in the beautiful Vapensalen. The speeches during the dinner and, of course, dancing the night away. It felt like a dream! But it was the intimacy and romantic setting of our ceremony that stood out for us. We felt so overwhelmed by all the love from our family and friends and seeing all their faces looking back at us. That is the best feeling in the world. We felt so lucky, and the whole day was perfect. We are so grateful to 2 Brides for documenting every moment so brilliant. It’s incredible that we can relive the day over and over again.
