Intimate Al Fresco Style Wedding Latvia | Kate & Edgards
Kate and Edgards invited us to their home country to document their very intimate and lovely al fresco style wedding. We traveled to Berenati, a small town on the coast of Latvia. Even though this was an intimate gathering, the bride and groom made sure their day would reflect their relationship and what they love to do as a couple. Inspired by nature, they planned the wedding weekend around the beach villa and their mutual love for the outdoors.
Kate, an aspiring musician, graphic designer and photographer made the vision of their day come to life together with her husband to be Edgards, who’s a translator. With about 20 of their closest family members, Kate and Edgards tied the knot in the little garden in front of the villa. Later they enjoyed an al fresco family style dinner. As a photographer it’s an extreme honour to be invited to document a wedding in such an intimate setting. We’re so thankful we got this opportunity to photograph it and visit beautiful Latvia. Thank you Kate & Edgards, we will forever treasure this. Read more from the bride herself below where she is describing their planning process and favourite moments of the days. Reader, thank you for stopping by! We can not thank you enough for spending a few minutes on our blog, means a heck of a lot to us.

From the bride:
We both love the nature and we wanted the ceremony to be outdoors. And to be an intimate one. Surrounded by silence and the sounds of nature and some mild wind in the trees. So we rented this lovely see-side house with a yard. Where we and our closest family members could have an intimate ceremony and dinner on the terrace. We also love the seaside and wanted to be near it. It was a family celebration, and we did not want to get too many people involved. We wanted to do as much as possible by ourselves. Since we love the outdoors, especially the see-side area, with the pine tree woods and the see. Sipoli Design was the perfect place for us. It’s an elegant little place with wooden elements not far from the see. It has a yard and a terrace that we could centre our day around. Making it feel like it was a family home and we were all just sitting outside and having a fancy al fresco style dinner. One of our friends helped us as a caterer. Preparing food right behind the house so there was a really friendly atmosphere. Usually they only rent the house as a quiet weekend getaway for couples, but we were able to convince the owners to let us have our wedding there. And we’re so happy and grateful that they agreed!
As I made the invitations, I knew I wanted them to reflect the wooden theme, the lightness and softness I felt the day would carry. So I chose a photo with reindeer lichen, that I had made a few years ago. It’s one of my favourite photos. So this colour, the light colour of reindeer lichen, is the colours of our day. Plus the light mix of colours of the flowers in my bouquet and on the dinner table.
We both arrived at the house the day before and started decorating it. Setting up the music, putting up string lights and other things. We really had no idea how it would turn out. But when the florists arrived and started putting up the dinner table with all the wonderful flower arrangements, the place was magically transformed. it turned into the perfect venue, all the details coming together so beautifully. We were so proud of what we had organised.
My favourite moment of the day was the ceremony. Seeing the whole of our family looking at me, my husband, smiling as my brother led me down the isle. It was a very emotional and beautiful. And then holding his hand as we spoke our simple but beautiful vows. We had come up with them previous night in a brainstorming session whilst making the last minute preparations for the upcoming day. Everything was perfect!
