WORKING WITH ME

I photograph love, it's a pretty good gig. And I shoot on film. Yes, film as in a roll you put into the camera and then send away to your lab to get it developed. Why film? Because there is nothing more beautiful, organic and honest than film. I love how film renders light and creates the most amazing color hues and how it perfectly captures the highlights in a wedding dress and all the shadow details in a tuxedo. Follow the light! When it comes to natural lighting on your wedding day you’ll want to follow a few rules. If you’re going for an outdoor ceremony or some of those gorgeous landscape photos, you’ll want to wait until the sun has lowered a bit.

And let's talk about the portraits. The kind with the sunset glow all around you as the happy new couple. You’ll want those to take place about one to two hours before sunset, depending on where you are on the globe. Here in Scandinavia we’re blessed with long sunsets. Golden hour can easily stretch out to three golden hours, so plenty of time.

On Golden Hour

Isabelle

I get asked this a lot. At every wedding basically. ”Why did you become a wedding photographer?” Honestly it’s not about me, it’s about you. The people I get to meet and work with. All the brides and grooms who’s trust I earn.

I kind of fell into wedding photography, having worked as a commercial photographer and retoucher for many years, weddings was something I did for fun. It was my creative outlet, my weekend hobby. Something I enjoyed so much and gave me tons of energy. And eventually it turned into a full time thing.

Up Close & Personal

About 4 years ago I quit a well paid job at a large photo studio and dove head over heels into my own creative little business and I’ve never regretted it once. Since then I’ve photographed incredible weddings all over Sweden, Europe and the Middle East. I've shoot 2 commercial cook books and I've co-written and photographed a wedding book released nationwide in Sweden. But weddings has captured my heart and is the one thing I love photographing the most.

THE WHY

My father passed away a few years ago and I realized I have no pictures of me and my dad from my own wedding. NONE. This is something that I will always regret deeply. Like forever. But back when I got married I wasn’t working as a wedding photographer, and I honestly didn’t think about getting family photos done.

Fast forward 11 years and my dad is not with us anymore. I have my brilliant husband, 2 awesome kids and I have my wedding ring, but I don't have pictures of me and my dad. Today I would do anything to have them. Photos of us together, pictures of me and my whole family, all dressed up, happy, laughing (and 11 years younger). This is one of the many reasons why I feel so strongly about photographing weddings. (Won't bore you with the other 22 reasons as to why I love my job) I know how much those photos matter down the road. I know how important it is to preserve the memories and having the opportunity to travel back in time and re-live it all. Weddings aren't just something I do, weddings are a huge part of (my) life.

Priceless

It’s all about the emotion and the connection between you and all of the loved ones gathered to celebrate. There are key photographs I want to capture and gift to you. From getting ready to the first look, the kiss, first dance and you cutting the cake. But in the end, it’s the full picture of the day that matters, those important moments and everything else in-between. That’s why I won’t be needing a shoot list.
