Real Garden Inspired Wedding from Stockholm’s City Center

Planning a garden inspired wedding in Stockholm? Emily and Chris did just that—bringing 160 of their favorite people to the city for a celebration that felt like pure joy from start to finish. Not stuffy. Not overproduced. Just a floral-filled weekend that reflected them completely.

Want to know what worked? What their guests loved? And how you can recreate this kind of magic in your own way?

Whether you’re just starting to plan or you’re deep in the Pinterest scroll, here’s a closer look at how to pull off a destination wedding in Sweden with serious style and zero stress.

Why Choose Stockholm for a Garden Inspired Wedding?

If you’re dreaming of something unique, romantic, and just a little unexpected, Stockholm is the move. It’s walkable, it’s stunning, and it has this rare mix of historic charm and modern edge that you don’t find everywhere.

Picture waterfront views, grand venues with gold details, and streets lined with cozy cafés and design-forward boutiques.

Forget the château in France or the Tuscan villa—Sweden is having a moment, and I’m very here for it.

Where They Got Married: Eric Ericsonhallen and Grand Hôtel Stockholm

Emily and Chris had their ceremony at Eric Ericsonhallen, a former church perched on its own little island in the city. Think tall ceilings, dramatic architecture, and a center aisle that practically begs for a cinematic entrance.

After that, guests made their way to Spegelsalen at the Grand Hôtel for dinner and dancing. The room itself is straight-up royalty status. Gilded mirrors. Crystal chandeliers. Velvet drapes. But thanks to incredible planning and warm, textural florals, the whole vibe felt personal and inviting. Grand, yes. But never too much.

It was a lush, floral-filled wedding in downtown Stockholm that felt bold, romantic, and completely personal.

Why Their Guests Had the Best Time (And Yours Can Too)

If there’s one thing to steal from this wedding, it’s the attention to the guest experience. Every detail felt personal and unexpected in the best way.

The seating chart? An oversized custom structure shaped like the Grand Hôtel itself, with schnapps shots for every guest. Yes, shots. With name tags. People lost their minds in the best way.

Then there were the cocktails. Instead of a standard menu, drinks had names like “The Match Point” and “The Double Fault”—a nod to Chris’s career in tennis. Personal, cheeky, and a total hit.

Other standout moments: the petal toss as they exited the ceremony, a dance floor that never once emptied, and the grand entrance into dinner with guests waving their napkins in the air. It was joyful chaos, and it was perfect.

Bringing a Garden Inspired Wedding Vision to Life in Stockholm

What stood out about Emily and Chris’s garden inspired wedding in Stockholm was how it blended wild floral arrangements with a formal, historic venue and made the space feel alive.

Garden Inspired Wedding Florals and a Design That Felt Alive

The florals were garden inspired with a modern twist. Soft yellow, warm orange, creamy whites, and muted greens came together in arrangements that looked like they could have been gathered from a late summer field. Nothing tight or overly styled—just texture, movement, and warmth.

Their garden inspired wedding decor brought serious life to an otherwise formal venue—proof that even the most traditional space can feel fresh, natural, and deeply personal.

At the ceremony, the floral design took things up a notch. Built to feel sculptural but still organic, blooms surrounded the couple in an immersive, wild garden setup that felt both grand and grounded.

Later, in Spegelsalen, a towering floral wall framed the head table while every dinner table featured Renaissance-style urns overflowing with florals. The glow of candlelight brought everything to life. The entire design blended into the historic space instead of competing with it, and that’s what made it feel elevated but still effortless.

What Dinner Looked (and Tasted) Like

Dinner at the Grand Hôtel wasn’t just beautifully prepared—it felt special. From the moment guests sat down, the experience was seamless.

Flawless timing. Warm, attentive service. Food that sparked conversation across every table.

The menu leaned into seasonal Nordic flavors, and every course arrived like a small work of art. But nothing felt too precious. Just good food, good wine, and the kind of relaxed elegance that sets the tone for the rest of the night.

Once the dancing started, late-night bites made their way out too. Because no great party ends on an empty stomach.

What I Loved Photographing Most

What I loved most about working with Emily and Chris was how easygoing they were and the trust they gave me from the very beginning. They pretty much handed me the reins creatively, starting with their engagement session, which we shot on Skeppsholmen during a quiet summer evening in Stockholm. It was super relaxed, no pressure, just the three of us walking, talking, and casually taking photos as we went. The results? Honest, natural, with just the right hint of editorial polish.

On the wedding day, that same vibe carried into the morning. Emily got ready in the Princess Lilian Suite at the Grand Hôtel, which has to be one of the most iconic (and spacious) getting-ready spots in the city. Floor-to-ceiling windows, views over the Royal Palace, and enough space for champagne toasts, multiple bouquets, and the entire bridal party without ever feeling crowded.

Nothing was staged or overly directed. Even the portraits were captured as they happened, without needing to stop or “perform” for the camera. That freedom to shoot in a fully documentary way is what I love most, and with these two, it came so naturally.

Thinking of Getting Married in Sweden? Let’s Talk

I photograph destination weddings all over Sweden, from Stockholm to Skåne and everywhere in between. If you’re planning a wedding here and want photos that feel honest, emotional, and just a little editorial, I’m your person.

If you’re dreaming of your own garden inspired wedding in Stockholm, let’s make it happen. I’d love to help you create something that feels completely yours.

And yes, schnapps shots are totally on the table.

This day didn’t just happen. It was carefully and beautifully crafted by an incredible team I genuinely love working with. Every detail, from the ceremony setting to the after-party energy, was a true reflection of thoughtful collaboration and creative trust.

It’s a joy to be part of a crew that not only delivers stunning work but also makes the entire process feel seamless (and honestly, fun).
