I February we traveled to Spain to teach a master class at The Rural Workshop. It was honestly one of the highlights this year so far!
The Workshop & How It Works
The workshop runs over 4 days and is packed with insanely talented photographers and videographers from all over the world. The teaching takes place outside of Barcelona in Santa Susanna, at a place called Bon Repos. It’s a cute camping village next to the sea. Everyone stays together in comfortable beach bungalows and hangs out together 24/7.
The Location
Every morning you get to wake up to the most beautiful view of the ocean. It is dreamy, to say the least! The presentations and masterclasses mixed with practical shooting go on from early morning until late in the night. Furthermore, you get to learn from some of the best within the industry.
Practical & Hands-On Shoots
The organizers of the Rural workshop arrange practical shoots. Pulling together the best of the best wedding professionals in Spain. Making sure the styled sets looks and feel luxurious, exclusive and so much fun to photograph.
Getting To Know New People In The Wedding Industry
Getting to know wedding planners and floral designers is a fantastic opportunity! I have admired many of them from afar and is priceless to be a part of the Rural Workshop. I learn so much and hence, come back with new ideas and how to use them.
It is important to educate yourself even if you are in the business for many years. Styles and trends change fast and to keep up we all need to learn new things. Networking is a big part of any workshop so I try to attend at least one every year.
Coming Back With Amazing Photos
It is also fulfilling to return with new and amazing photos for your portfolio. The new techniques you learn and put into your own business will help you level up your game.
For two days we taught a master class with hands-on shooting at the most awesome venue; The Hotel Can Mora de Dalt, a country house from the XV century which opened as a hotel in summer of 2008. Owned by the same family for 18 generations it is surrounded by olive groves and naturally, has a stunning view.
We had a fantastic time and all thanks to the organizers; Cristina and Roberto, translators, thank you, Michael, presenters and all of the attendants. If given the chance, we would do it again in a heartbeat!! If you are a wedding photographer or videographer and haven’t yet visited The Rural Workshop, we strongly urge you to do so. It’s a week filled with absolute magic, loads of learning. networking, great presenters and above all; Roberto & Cristina pours so much love into this workshop and really goes out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, inspired & learning tons of useful stuff (AND they make sure everybody enjoys the ride!)
