2016 is seeing some amazing trends come to the cocktail reception portion of the wedding. From farm to table, freshly brewed beers, and some prohibition traditions mixed with modern twists–these are three of our favourite signature drinks that are sure to make any wedding reception burst with flavour.
English Garden
This gorgeous, delightful drink is perfect for an outdoor wedding. Use farm fresh ingredients combined with an herbal infused gin, and you can’t go wrong with this signature drink.
You’ll need:
- 50ml Hendrick’s Gin
- Apple juice
- 25ml St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
- Fresh lime
- Cucumber slices for garnish
Fill a glass half up with ice. Pour gin and St. Germain over ice. Squeeze in the juice of two lime wedges. Fill with apple juice and garnish with cucumber slices.
Black Velvet
One silky cocktail, this drink is for those with a palette for the finer things in life. Just like the name, it’s like velvet on your tongue boasting with hints of chocolate and coffee beans.
You’ll need:
- 5 ounces Stout (preferably Irish, but your favourite craft stout will do)
- 5 ounces champagne
Simply pour the champagne into a snifter glass and slowly pour stout in on top. Simple and easy, serve with rich cheeses and canapes.
Kentucky Corpse Reviver
A timeless classic, Lillet Blanc is coming back into play this year. Nothing screams spring wedding reception like a good old fashioned Kentucky bourbon cocktail.
You’ll need:
- 25ml Kentucky Bourbon
- 25ml Dry Curaçao
- 25ml Lillet Blanc
- Fresh lemon juice
- Mint sprig for garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add bourbon, curacao, and Lillet Blanc. Top with juice of 3 lemon wedges. Shake vigorously until well chilled (about 15 seconds). Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
Enjoy!
