Instagram is a magical place. It’s really changed our whole lives, which is crazy when you think about the fact that it’s really just a grid.
One of its most significant impacts has been in the wedding industry—it has indeed changed the entire game.
As you’re planning your wedding, Instagram can be a one-stop shop when you’re trying to find the perfect wedding vendors for your big day.
Instagram allows you to search for incredible artists. Such as photographers, floral designers, wedding planners, it’s fantastic, but it’s also so overwhelming! There is so much to look at and so many people to find.
On top of that, you want to make sure that you do the proper research, see more than just a few photos, and get to know the vendor before hiring them.
If you want to use Instagram to find your match-made-in-heaven vendors, but don’t want to spend days of your life doing it, here are some things to keep in mind:
Make sure that when you’re searching for vendors on Instagram, that you’re using appropriate hashtags. If you’re not using the proper hashtags for your search, you’re going to get lost in a sea of posts.
Don’t just search #weddingphotographer when you’re looking for a photographer. 13.2 million posts are going to pop up on your feed, and I literally think it’s impossible for someone to go through that many. You want to be as specific as possible to your needs, and you want to make sure you’re searching for the right things. For example, you don’t want to be searching for #adventureweddingphotographers if you want a traditional wedding photographer. You won’t find the photographers you’re actually looking for.
Using hashtags will also help you narrow down your search for vendors in your area. Make sure you add the city or the state where your wedding will be to your hashtags. For example, instead of searching for #weddingplanners, search for #NewYorkWeddingPlanners. This will help you narrow down your search significantly, and it will be so much less overwhelming.
It can be so tricky to find wedding vendors because it can be hard to find individuals through all the noise. Once you discover someone whose work you admire, take a while to look at how they interact with their followers.
Go to the comments on their posts. Frequently, past clients will comment on vendor’s posts and show their appreciation. If the vendor seems to have a great relationship with past and future clients, then you can make sure that you can trust them. Also, make sure to check out any reviews on Google or Facebook, they can say a ton about how this person treats their clients.
One of the most important parts of finding the best people for your wedding (besides their credibility and portfolio) is to find someone that you get along with. The last thing you need to worry about on your wedding day has a vendor that you don’t personally like.
Instagram is incredible when it comes to this because you can get a behind-the-scenes look at each vendor and really get to know their personality. Make sure that you check out their Instagram stories or IG TV episodes to get to know the vendors on a deeper level. See if you have similar personalities if you think you would get along well and if you think that they would be a calming presence on your big day.
Not only will you be using Instagram to find your dream vendors, but vendors also use Instagram to help find their dream clients. Therefore, you need to make sure that you also have a strong and inviting presence on Instagram.
Chances are your dream team of wedding professionals are extremely popular and books up their calendars fast. Exceptional professionals are so successful because they match with their dream clients.
Therefore, you need to make sure that you’re a presence on Instagram is just as welcoming as theirs. And socialize! Reach out via DM, comment and genuinely interact and you will connect with the right peeps for you.
I hope that this helps you with your search for wedding vendors. If you have any questions, I am always happy to answer them!
