Your love, my creative vision. I’m Isabelle, a Stockholm, Sweden wedding photographer that strives to capture meaning in every photo. Your wedding starts here!
Kate and Edgard’s invited us to their home country to document their very intimate alfresco style wedding in Latvia. We traveled to Berenati, a small town on the coast. Even though this was an intimate gathering, the bride and groom made sure their day would reflect their relationship. Such as what they love to do as a couple. Inspired by nature, they planned the wedding weekend around the beach villa and their mutual love for the outdoors.
How This Alfresco Style Wedding Came To Life
Kate, an aspiring musician and graphic designer made the vision of their day come to life together with her husband to be Edgards. With about 20 of their closest family members, Kate and Edgard tied the knot in the garden in front of the villa. Later they enjoyed an al fresco family-style dinner. As a photographer, it’s an extreme honor to be invited to document a wedding in such an intimate setting. So thankful to have gotten this opportunity to visit beautiful Latvia. Thank you, Kate & Edgards, I will forever treasure this. Expert advice from the bride herself below on how to plan an Al Fresco style wedding. She is describing their preparation process and favorite moments of the days. Reader, thank you for stopping by! I can not thank you enough for spending a few minutes on my blog, which means a heck of a lot to me.

From the bride:
We both love nature, and we wanted the ceremony and dinner to be outdoors. And to be an intimate one. Surrounded by silence and the sounds of nature and the wind in the trees. So we rented this lovely seaside house with a yard. Where our closest family members and we could have an intimate ceremony and an alfresco style dinner on the terrace. We also love the seaside and wanted to be near it.
It was a family celebration
It was a family celebration, and we did not want to get too many people involved. We wanted to do as much as possible by ourselves. Since we love the outdoors, Villa Sipoli Design was the perfect place for us. It’s a beautiful little place with wooden elements. It has a yard and a terrace that we could center our day around. Making it feel like it was a family home, and we were all just sitting outside and having a fancy alfresco style dining.
One of our friends helped us as a caterer. We are preparing food right behind the house, so there was an amicable atmosphere. Usually, they only rent the apartment as a quiet weekend getaway for couples, but we were able to convince the owners to let us have our wedding there. And we’re so happy and grateful that they agreed!
I made the invitations
As I made the invitations, I knew I wanted them to reflect the wooden theme. The lightness and softness I felt the day would carry. So I chose a photo with reindeer lichen, that I had made a few years ago. It’s one of my favorite images. So the light color of the reindeer lichen is the colors of our day. Plus, the light mix of shades of the flowers in my bouquet and on the dinner table.
We both arrived at the house the day before and started decorating it and setting up the music, putting up string lights, and other things. We had no idea how it would turn out. But when the florists arrived and started putting up the dinner table with all the excellent flower arrangements and the place was magically transformed. It turned into be perfect, and all the details came together so beautifully. We were so proud of what we had organized.
My favorite moment of the day
My favorite moment of the day was the ceremony. We are seeing the whole of our family looking at my husband and me. He’s smiling as my brother led me down the aisle. It was very emotional and beautiful. And we are then holding his hand as we spoke our beautiful but straightforward vows. We had come up with the promises previous night in a brainstorming session while making the last-minute preparations for the upcoming day. Everything was complete!
